Start By Doing What Is Necessary

“Start by doing what's necessary; then do what's possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible.”
St. Francis of Assisi

Yesterday the teacher of my yoga class at Verge Yoga ended the class with the quote above from St. Francis of Assisi.  I found the quote to be simple yet profound.

"Start by doing what's necessary."

It is necessary that  we establish a connection between our mind, body and spirit.  It is necessary that we take care of ourselves first.  It is necessary that we love and accept ourselves as we are in each moment.  It is necessary that we identify with our self that knows our worth and wholeness rather than the voice that seeks to keep us stuck.

"Then do what's possible"

When the necessary has been addressed,  doing the work without struggle becomes possible.  Exercise and eating well, once a sacrifice becomes a way of life.  Joy and ease and freedom are realized.

"And suddenly you are doing the impossible"

We find our selves experiencing what once was impossible.  Perhaps in the physical realm of our bodies but often in the ways we never could have expected.  We are living our full expression of who we are, of what we were meant to do in the world.

If we want to be healthy physically and emotionally, if we want to live the lives we were born to live...we cannot skip over the necessary.   We will not find what is possible without acceptance and self love at our core.  We must commit ourselves to laying the put in the ground work that will hold our dreams and self realization.

"Start by doing what is necessary".... start today.
