Manifest Your Glory- Liberate the World

Last night I watch the series premier of What’s Eating You? - Stories of food, fear and obsession On E! Last night followed the stories of two young ladies, one with anorexia and the other bulimia. The documentary style show did a really great job of shedding some insight into what it’s like to deal with these disorders, with people smack dab in crisis mode rather than already recovered. There was one part in the episode that struck me the most, which I want to share with you.

Adrienne the woman with Anorexia at one point in the show is in a family therapy session with her mother and sister. The mother shares that as a young woman she too was anorexic; however she claims that she never restricted the girls with food or gave them negative messages about their bodies. On that point both daughters agree. But then the therapist asks how mom treated herself. Both girls immediately begin speaking about how their mother spoke about herself negatively.

This family is the perfect example of the fact that, it doesn’t matter what you try to teach children about their bodies and food….they will only truly learn what you model in your own relationship with those things! Maybe you don’t have children, but chances are you do care about women’s issues if you are reading this blog. No matter how much you want to change our culture, how much you talk about a woman’s worth being more than her body, how often you tell others they are okay just the way they are….you are never truly going to give the next generation of women a fighting chance…until you learn to ACCEPT AND LOVE YOUR BODY AND YOUR SELF!

You don’t truly do that yet because you think those negative voices in your head…are you. You are holding onto your beliefs about your body, knuckles white in death grip. Let them go…step back…and watch…they may just fall away. Your authentic self that is available in each and every moment, is separate from any thought or idea that says you are not good enough as you are. “We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It is not just in some of us; it is in everyone. As we let our own Light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.” (Marianne Williamson)

MANIFEST YOUR GLORY…and you will be doing your part to liberate the women of the world.

"I am a beautiful woman, with beauty that doesn’t wash off. I earned it, unearthed it, rescued it like a jewel in the dust, picked it up and made it shine. For years I did not see it, though I sensed it was there. Now it dazzles and thrives. I am healthy, capable, independent, strong yet still so fragile, floored by a sigh. My body is that of a creator … angles meeting curves, hardness drifting into soft. I am a mother, daughter, sister, lover to myself. Embraceable and brave, I extend my heart. My body is home, my home a shrine to life, comfortable, warm and rich with treasures. Mine is the scent of hot spices caught in a breeze, mine the laughter that wings through the door. I share myself only with those who honor me as I am and protect myself, my house, and my time from invaders. I search for my center in the midst of chaos, practice peace as wild dogs clamor in my mind. I use power for the greater good, release rag in neutral settings, with no one innocent in the line of fire. I am learning how to persist and how to let go, am willing to feel all emotion stop their depths and exaltation, to wake up in every nerve and no longer am afraid of my life. Both my beauty and strength transcend age, time and perhaps even this lifetime. Each day I am new, yet more at home in myself. Moment by moment, I create my world. "
