The Kids are Watching

Mother’s day was yesterday, and it occurred to me that our mother’s are often times the person that first teaches us (or neglects to teach us) about self-love. I would venture to say every loving mother would wish for their children to be able to love themselves, but despite best wishes mother’s who don’t practice self love, cannot teach their children, especially their daughters to do it either.

Generation after generation of women teaches one another to put themselves last. Professing the subconscious belief that it is impossible to care for your family and your self simultaneously. Long lines of women believing that they are “just not good enough.”

Now is the time to put ourselves first. Now is the time to realize that in order to care for our families in the way that we want we must first care for ourselves. Now is the time to realize that we are more than good enough, we are PERFECT, just the way we are, flaws and all. Now is the time for us women to start LOVING OURSELVES so that we can be role models for our children, our future children or the young people in our lives.

The kids are watching. What will you show them?
